DNA-binding proteins

Surface proteins binding genetic material (DNA)
In order to infect a cell, the virus has to bind to the cell surface. To identify
potential binding sites on infectable cells, a research project at the University of
Bochum is currently being sponsored where modern technology is used to look for
certain proteins, which bind and internalize genetic material (viruses) into cells.
The understanding of this binding can be used as a first step in developing novel
drugs with inhibitory potential.
