Since the beginning of the epidemy 40 million people have been infected with HIV to date: 36 million adults and 4 million children


75-85% of HIV-infections are being transmitted by unprotected sex


In 1999 in Germany there are currently about 40.000 people HIV-positive, with 10.000 suffering from full-blown AIDS


Despite all efforts and campaigns for prevention there are 2.000 persons being newly infected every year in Germany
